How to Install Skate Protector

Here is a step by step guide on how to apply your Skate Protector.

 

Step 1: Clean the Skate

Use alcohol pads provided to clean the outside of the skate

Do this on both new and used skates for best results

Lightly mark where you want the Skate Protector to go

Step 2: Preheat the Oven

If you do not have a skate oven, a household oven will work.

Pre-heat oven to 275 F - 135 C.

Never use Broil or Convection setting.

Step 3: Heat the Protector

Remove paper backing

Place one Skate Protector on a baking sheet sticky side up

Slide in the oven one at a time

 

Step 4: Check for Flexibility

After 60-70 seconds, the protector should be floppy and droopy

If it is still stiff, place SP2 back in the oven for another 30 seconds

Repeat if needed as material MUST be floppy and droopy to fully adhere and mold to the skate

CAUTION: The adhesive is very sticky- you will have only one chance at applying correctly

Step 5: Apply to the Skate

Be sure to use protective gloves and eyewear as the material may be hot

Start at the heel and press Skate Protector onto the skate

Firmly press on the entire surface and around all the edges

If some edges have not molded after being applied, this is usually due to the material not being heated enough. Take a heat gun or blow dryer and slowly heat the lifted area. Do not get heat too close to the material. Push down the specific area firmly and hold for 10 seconds.

Let cool and use right away!
